Frequently Asked Questions

What is counselling?

'Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. Your therapist will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

A counsellor will not give you their opinions or advice or prescribe medication. They will help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.' (BACP)

What happens in a session?

During our session, we will talk through your feelings and explore any issues you maybe struggling with. We will work through various exercises to create tools and coping mechanisms to help you manage those issues in a healthier way. We may explore both past and present life events that maybe affecting your daily life, behaviours and emotions.

How often do we meet?

Initially I ask that clients attend weekly sessions. Weekly therapy provides a steady rhythm to your therapeutic journey, making it easier to establish a relationship and maintain a sense of trust. With a shorter gap between sessions, you will be better equipped to build on the insights gained from each session, leading to more significant progress and growth over time.

How can I make contact or book in an initial call?

You can drop me a call, text, email or fill in the contact form. We will then find a suitable time to book in your free 15 minute consultation, to briefly discuss what is bringing you to seek counselling and what support you are looking for. I am not always available to take a phone call, if you leave your name and number I will get back to you within 24 business hours.

Cost per session and how can I pay?

The cost is £65 per hour. You can pay via a bank transfer, you will need to pay for the session 48 hours prior to your appointment.
